"The Shaker's played our wedding reception in September 2026 and we could not recommend them highly enough - they were absolutely fantastic and exceeded all our expectations. In the run up to the wedding Jamie was in touch by e-mail and easily contactable and responsive to queries. Our first dance song was not originally in their repertoire but they took the time to learn and played an absolutely gorgeous rendition, which really means so much to us. We had a ceilidh portion of the evening which was so much fun and the calling of the dances was so well organised by the band, helping it go smoothly (and safely!). The remainder of the evening and set was just so much more better that we ever could have expected. Such a talented group of musicians that play so well together. The setlist really felt like "us" and the interaction on the dancefloor from the sax player and guitarist was an added bonus. All of our guests have raved about them and even some of our quieter, shy relatives couldn't help but get up and dance - the floor was full all evening. Thanks again guys - a brilliant night to remember for us. "

"We cannot recommend The Shakers highly enough. I’ve worked with wedding bands for many years but always knew when it was my turn to get married, I’d choose The Shakers and I’m pleased to say I absolutely made the right call.
With both fantastic male & female vocals, there isn’t a song the band can’t sing and their sax player Hermie absolutely knocked it out the park. Not to mention, they are the loveliest group of people you’ll meet.
From the very first song, The Shakers had everybody up all night and the dance floor was literally not empty at any point of the night. Hermie had everyone up doing a sax congo and limbo at one point, everyone got involved and it was hilarious fun! We’ve heard from so many of our guests that it’s the most they’ve ever danced at a wedding. We’ve had so many compliments on the band even weeks afterwards.
The Shakers are total pros and know exactly what to play to keep everyone dancing and having a great time all night long.
The party was a massively important part of the day for us and The Shakers made sure it was unforgettable. Having that party as one of the final memories of our wedding day tied everything in the perfect bow. I could go on and on but if they’re available on your date, do the right thing and BOOK THEM! Who's in The Shakers?
We're a six-piece Glasgow-based band with male and female lead vocals, keyboards, guitar, drums and live saxophone. Between us we cover an enormous range, from Glenn Miller and Sinatra right through to Chappell Roan and Sam Fender, so there's something for every age group in the room. Our manager Jamie looks after all the arrangements in the run-up, and on the night one of the band will run through the plan with you before we start.
What difference does having a live saxophone make?
More than you might expect. Our sax player doesn't stay on stage. He comes down onto the dance floor for solos, leads conga lines out through the venue and has been known to start a limbo competition when the crowd is in the mood. He's the single thing our couples mention most in their reviews, along with the odd saxophone serenade for the bride. If you'd rather we kept things a little more restrained, just say and we'll play it straight.
Do you play a ceilidh, and how long is it?
Yes, and it's included as standard. Our ceilidh set runs up to 30 minutes and covers the Gay Gordons, the Dashing White Sergeant, Strip the Willow, the Canadian Barn Dance and St Bernard's Waltz. If you'd like more, we can extend it to around 45 minutes by adding a live fiddle player for an additional fee. We call every dance clearly, and we're well used to guests who have never done one before.
Half our guests aren't Scottish. Will the ceilidh work?
It's one of our favourite parts of the night. We've called ceilidhs for American, Canadian, Australian and English wedding parties, and couples regularly tell us their overseas guests loved it and managed the steps fine. We keep the instructions simple, demonstrate as we go and pick the dances that are easiest for beginners. Nobody gets left standing at the side.
Can we have the ceilidh at a particular point in the night?
Absolutely. Some couples want it first, to break the ice and get everyone mixing. Others prefer it later. We can also split it in two, with some dances early while your photographer is still there and the rest later in the evening. That's an approach we've suggested to a few couples and it has worked really well. Just tell us what suits your running order.
